Hi, I have a Precision M6400, I am installing from scratch Windows XP x64, do I need to install Dell Control Point Software Suite ?, I am trying to have a system as much clean and lean as possible, I do not want unnecessary software installed, is there any driver or something important or critical in the DCP suite ?, thanks

You don't have to....i had it before but running without DCP now, only thing i miss is the on-screen volume and brightness bar that pop up when adjusting those....but that's really the only thing.
If you want to use the security suite i think you will have to install some though

You can install only the parts of DCP you need. I have only installed the System Manager part with on-screen info and power settings. This part works ok and it is not too bloated like the other parts.
