I have a Dell Latitude D620 and I replaced the battery about a year ago. Now the Power Meter reads that the battery is connected and is charging but if I unplug the power, the laptop immediately shuts off. It seems like the connection may not be good, but I have checked it several times and it looks fine. Any suggestions?

Your lucky to get a Dell Bat to work 6 months.
If yours lasted a year time for a new bat bro.

Not so. My E6400's battery is still surprisingly healthy after one year.

It is unusual for a battery to suffer total loss of capacity so that the computer immediately shuts down when the power plug is pulled. Can you run RMClock and look at the battery info page. This reports the design capacity, current capacity and full charged capacity.

If the current capacity is greater than zero then I wonder if the problem lies with the hardware which converts the battery power for use in the computer.

I had the same problem on my D620, but I recall the battery indicator flashed red to indicate that the battery needed replacing. Does your battery indicator light flash red as wel?

Check the battery health in the BIOS. What does it say? My D620's original battery is still running strong after 2.5 years...
