I'm moving this to the Precision forum, if someone knows, you'll likely get your answer faster there.

The advantages of any battery is insurance. You must keep in mind that this is a professional machine and because people may depend on it for their livelihood, it not something you want to run down. That's why I've advocated getting at least one backup battery with ALL your electronics when you buy them.

Unlike other external that can typically be bought for a lot less aftermarket, the battery is the one accessory you really are better off purchasing from the OEM when you unit is new. Especially if you have a premium device. I've already budgeted for two backup batters:the regular one and the Slice.

However, if you're lucky enough to get the unit just for your personal use, one extra batter should be enough. For the professional, the battery dying is unacceptable. Too bad this one doesn't come with the LEDs.

I have a toy poodle as well. hehe

Keep in mind that older generation may not be compatible. I used to own a M6400 and I wanted one, but after much search around it appeared that it wouldn't work. Didn't actually try it though.

    1. The battery slice uses the docking connector, so you can't use an E-Port without removing it.
    2. You need to get the battery slice which is compatible with your laptop. The base is larger than the E-Port, so you can't just use any.
    3. If you're in an office or constantly near an outlet, the 9-cell main battery with the 3-cell modular bay is more than good enough. The two are usually good for the better part of the day under light use. The slice is only really useful to people who are constantly on the go, have no access to an outlet and find themselves constantly running out of battery.

On the other hand the 6700 is a portable device. But yes, if you use it solely as a desktop replacement, you won't need a battery. Kinda defeats the purpose though, don't you think?

The slice has a narrow enough width to use on the E6320/6330. Have not tried it on the E6230.

It will fit, but is not compatible with the E4310.

It works fine with the E6520.

So. Orange stripe (E6X20+) and up Latitudes seem to work.

See my post at the end of the M6700 Owner's Review for more detailed info on how it works with that machine.

Will try with the M6500 and M6600.

I believe there was a post from Dell-Mano_G saying it should work with the M6600 but it is not officially supported.

Just to revive an old topic, I am looking for options for my E7450. Found this unit, the power companion and of course one could buy a spare internal battery (54Wh).

Speaking of battery life/weight economy I guess the best solution would be two spare internals, especially if there is a voltage conversion for the slice. I'd be glad to hear some real-life experience.

Just eyeballing the dimensions for this slice battery, it appears that there would be at least an inch of overhang out of the back of the laptop if you were to use this with the 7450. The 7450's docking port is almost up against the back edge of the laptop while this battery has the docking connector almost in the middle.
