Dell 7530 vs 7520

Hello,

I have 7520 at work and very happy with it. I'm going to buy one more for home and with the similar configuration the price difference is $250 more for the 7530. I didn't find much information online about difference between them. Is it worth to spend more for new model?

It's an incremental upgrade with 8th gen Intel CPUs instead of 7th gen. This does include the option for 6-core CPUs instead of 4-core, which is new for 8th gen. The GPUs are faster as well. There is an additional Thunderbolt/USB-C port and fewer regular USB ports. There is an additional M.2/NVMe port inside for an additional SSD. A new possible downside is, it's no longer possible to configure both the high-capacity battery and a 2.5" SATA drive, you have to pick one or the other.

With 7530 replacing it, 7520 will no longer be for sale (except on Dell Outlet) after a few months.

"Is it worth it" is something only you can decide...

I'll pick 7530, I also like that latest Intel CPU is much faster(i5-8300H compare to i5-7300HQ).

 

The 7530 is more modern and comes with more powerful CPU and GPU options. This is the system I would generally recommend.

The main reason for choosing the 7520 could be that it allows a Windows 7 Pro downgrade option for the people who require or prefer this OS. But be aware that Windows 7 extended support ends early 2020.

 

Windows 7 is only supported on Intel 6th gen CPUs and below... Most 7520s shipped with 7th gen CPUs anyway.
