Dedicated End Button of E5550

Hello,
I noticed the End button on the E5550 requires a Fn combo. Is it possible to reverse the setting so that End is the main key (with no Fn)? I do coding and editing and End is VERY important to me. Can't imagine not having a dedicated End button.

Check what changing the Fn Lock option in the BIOS > POST Behaviour does.

Fn+Esc shows on my E7450 keyboard as Fn Lock which would suggest that enabling this would swap the primary and secondary functions of the keys with Fn functions. However, Fn+Esc seems to be disabled by default (ie it has now effect when I've tried it).

unfortunately the fn lock only applies to FN keys. if the up/down are on the arrow keys like on my precision 7710, then the lock function does not work on it, so you have to use fn + up/down.

If you use linux, there are easy way to bind keys to such functions I believe.

 

Another possibility is that if you have a key that you never use (I have one with "`¦¬" on it) then that could be remapped to End using keyboard remapping software. Brain and fingers will also need to be reprogrammed to use that key.

Yes. The final option, of course, would be to take your business elsewhere, and buy a computer from a company that still has at least some marginal understanding of how computers are used by the few people who still create content (text, computer programs, etc.) rather than just consume stuff. You know, the kind of people who are paid to produce.
It appears that Dell is not such a company anymore, or at least they allow obvious morons to try and foist an utterly unacceptable keyboard layout on people. I note that, as of right now, both HP and Lenovo still offer business-class machines with proper keyboards. That's where I will take my business for the future.
