    Hi,
I just purchased a Dell D830 and except for the screen I have been very satisfied. I called tech support and they are sending out a new laptop since I am within my return period. My concern is the issue I am seeing is just the nature of this screen and not a defect. When I look at the screen while it is totally white I can see what I can only describe as looking through a screen door. It is also noticeable on in gray areas of IE. I have a D620 from work and do not see this issue. I have the panel that runs 1680x1050. I am also using the Intel graphics. I just wanted some feedback from any other users to see if this will new laptop will have the same issue. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the quick reply. Would you say that I have a good chance of having the same kind of issue?

probably. cross your fingers the new laptop doesn't have one. this seemed to be a common issue with a couple of lineups with dell. i don't recall it being an issue with your laptop.

    Update....
I just got my replacement and went from an sec panel to an auo177b.
Screen is much better but I am not sure if I am 100% satisfied. I am going to sleep on it and decide if I want to send it back.

Well I am sending it back. I am now going to try to decide where to go next. I want to stay with Dell but I am concerned about getting a bad screen again.

At this point I would probably wait on the E series, unless you need the laptop right away.
