Getting the itch to buy a new laprop.

What are your thoughts on these 2 ?

DO I take the more mature model in the D830 or spend the few hundered
    extra for the E6500 ?

The D830 will only be available thru 12/31/08 supposedly.

    TIA.

I think this is a given. Dell has only kept the D830 around this long to maintain backward compatibility for all their corporate customers who have a plethora of accessories (read: Docks et al) and still need new machines. If you don't have any D-series accessories or you aren't intimately attached to them, I would say go with the E series.

Having said that, I really liked my old D630 and love my D430. They were solid machines but I have not used a E6x00 extensively.

they both have pros and cons actually, its a tough choice. if you're keeping the notebook 2 years, i'd go with the d830. if you're planning on keeping it 4-5 yrs i'd go with the E series

The one resolution the D830 has , which I really like is
    the 1650x1050.

The 1920x1280 is too small for me and the 1440 x 900 is just OK.

I tried negotiating with Dell a better price than I can get on the online Small businesss site and no luck :(

Any issues buying on the small business site as an individual ?

    TIA.

    Laptop now: None.

I have a Dell Desktop Dual Core I bought last year.

My work laptop is a Dell D820...sweet.

I have tried the Sony FW series (returned it because it was slow)
Was looking at all the OTC stuff, but I cannot stand the 1280 x 800.

No games for me, just code development. java , .net, LAMP stuff etc...

    Just freelancing messing around ........
