I want to get a new battery for a spare to take along on our family vacation. Dell is selling their 9 Cell batteries for $299 yet because of the battery factory plant fire a couple of months ago. I do not feel comfortable with buying batteries on E-Bay. A search on the web brought up Duracell Direct with a battery for $144.38 with shipping. Sounds not too bad. Anybody here know why Duracell Direct would not be a good choice? Any other reputable and reasonable supplier for notebook batteries?

Honestly, we went via ebay for a replacement battery. We found it was half the price, and still Dell Genuine. There are a lot of battery sales places out there, like BatteriesPlus. I've used a collection of different places to buy UPS battery replacements, but never laptop.

ALWAYS buy notebook batteries from the manufacturer. They do cost more but they actually work...

If you can wait a little while prices will deflate its still high from the fire at the plant in korea

3rd party batteries, while they look good on paper, just are NOT tested as well as vendor-made batteries. Those companies are just guessing when they design their batteries, and as such may or may not meet 100% of the requirements needed to guarantee smooth operation.

You definitely should get an OEM battery and not go for the expensive dell battery.

Dell outsources its battery production to the same factories which produce oem batteries.

BatteryHippo.com is the place to go if you want the cheapest compatible batteries which have been tested and work as good if not better than the original super-expensive battery.

    You can get your 9-cell 85Wh Dell D820 / D30 / M65 at BatteryHippo for just $74 at BatteryHippo.com

I've bought replacement batteries for my D820 off of Ebay (blackcat PCs). They were 1/3rd the price of the Dell stock - and were genuine parts.

    They work just fine.
