D630 temperatures / heatsink concerns

    I decided to purchase a used Intel cooler on eBay, since it wasn't much more expensive than a thermal pad, and I wasn't confident that I'd be able to remove the shim from the nVidia cooler (having attached it with thermal adhesive). The Intel cooler still has its old thermal pad attached (for the chipset), so I re-used that, and used Arctic Silver on the CPU.

    Result: there is still generally 6 to 7 degrees difference between the two cores. :rolleyes:

    I guess it's something to do with the CPU itself... unless I'm repeatedly doing something wrong with the installation, but Dell's instructions seem pretty unambiguous, so I'm not sure what that could be. In any case, there's probably no point in pursuing this further when the machine is stable and temps are low overall.
