    Ok, dumb question...

    If you remove the battery on a D630, what's the slot that looks like it could hold a SIM card?

    I think its for connecting up to 3G networks and the like for "broadband" on the move. M1730 has it too, so I guess a lot of Dell laptops now feature it.

    It's only usable if you have a GSM WWAN card installed. Most systems do not come with a WWAN card because it's optional.
