    Hey all,

Ive downloaded and setup the Wave/Embassy Security suite from Dell, its all working fine, but it wont let me enroll fingerprints against my user name. After having me swipe my finger, and then confirming that 10 fingerprints are stored, I get the error message "Enrollment Failed".

I checked the event viewer and I get a security error:

    Unprotection of auditable protected data.
Data Description: user credential store data
    Key Identifier: 5c3ff61f-b621-45ca-9e69-e366df655d23
    Protected Data Flags: 0x0
    Protection Algorithms: 3DES-168 , SHA1-160
    Failure Reason: 0xD

Any ideas how to get past this?

    Cheers,

    Lat

I've had nothing but troubles with the Wave Embassy software on my D620. If you are using it just for fingerprints, then I would recommend that you use the UPEK Protector Suite. It's a bit tricky to get though. Here's the link (don't click on it):

    upek.com/support/downloads/psql_winqual/psql_upgrade.asp

Copy that, open a new browser window, and paste the link. It will bring you to the correct download page if you do that. If you just click on the link, it will tell you to contact support.

Yup, that's the page you get if you don't do it correctly. What browser are you using? Try IE7, and after the window opens, immediately press Esc a couple times to stop the home page from loading. See if that helps.

Thanks Guys, downloading it from Dell's site now. Ran the software and it now works. Fantastic......Oh, how do you stop Windows logon making you press the ok button to proceed?

Normally, once you press ctrl-alt-del it will display any messages, it has an OK button which you press to proceed to the logon screen. How do you turn that off?

I am using the UPEK fingerprint software with a USB fingerprint reader and don't have to press or anything, swiping my finger is enough to login.

If your computer is a member of a Windows domain it might be different.
