Well, I'm telling you that no less than THREE of them in a row did not, and both the original and the new drive I bought did ... so, you're saying I'm selectively retarded? Maybe they're SUPPOSED to, but in my case, they DIDN'T.

We all have our own opinions on brands. Mine is that Fujitsu's are cheap, and I don't want one of them in my system -- especially a used one that can fail at any time.

By the way, are you aware that if you buy a "refurbished" hard drive from Dell's site, they are only warrantied for 90 days??? What does that tell you about what DELL thinks about the reliability of their refurb drives???

Point well taken on the backups. I'll be be getting an external hard drive for that purpose when I purchase a new machine shortly. Due to software licensing issues, I don't know that it's at all practical to try and prepare a second internal drive as a twin for replacement, although I'll certainly check to see whether external drive backup software can accomplish this.

A new seagate can fail as well, as yours did.

I'm pretty sure they will honor the hard rive with your system warranty, so that doesn't tell anything.

Check Norton Ghost or any other hard drive cloning software. Set up your computer, do a carbon copy and then do incremental backups for your data.

I have never seen a 2.5" SATA hard drive that would not fit in a D630. I have seen and used pretty much all brands available in D630 and D620 systems.

Most all refurbished computer parts from any vendor I have delt with has a 30-120 day warranty this is industry standard and has nothing at all to do with Dell, in fact I would bet that the 90 day warranty is based upon what the drive vendors provide to Dell (. As was suggested previous, your replacement hard drive will be warranted for the same time period as the system you are installing in.

Ghost is a great application and will do exactly what you need.
