D620 Touchpad/KB Issues

    This is a strange one that I'd like to diagnose. The Touchpad is VERY erratic and is virtually unusable. The pointer will appear on the other side of the screen with the slightest touch.

    Sounds like the touchpad is bad but then we have the keyboard problem.

    The keyboard seems to have a delay that is really random. You can type and sometimes the key won't register the keystroke. There is no pattern other than if you type VERY slowly it works okay.

    I just did a fresh install of XP SP3 and loaded all the Dell drivers. If I use an external keyboard and mouse, the machine is flawless.

    I'm thinking a new keyboard and palm rest w/touchpad should do the trick. But how likely is it that both are bad?

    This was an Ebay purchase so I have no idea how long it's been like this or if both problems atrted at the same time.
