    Hello Everybody,

Pls forgive me if a similar question is already in the older threads. I searched but I couldn't find a similar thread.

    My question:
I got a Dell D430 [latitude]. I have the d/bay optical drive which has to be connected to the double powered USB port. On connecting to the double powered USB port, I find that the OS [Windows XP] doesn't detect the drive.

I think, its just got to be connected and it starts working. But on my system, it doesn't. There is no power supply to the drive at all. So it doesn't open the tray when eject button is pressed. The XP MyComputer->Properties->Device Manager Info doesn't show it either. Additionally, I tried also the system->shutdown->connect and checked with the BIOS[ver A08], but the BIOS->System Info->System DBay info = {none}.

Now what could be the problem? Is it a problem with the drive / is it a problem with the machine / Any extra configs required - enable or disable / Should a driver be installed specifically (doesn't it come with the factory installed?)

Please do help me / point me resources. Thanks for your time in advance.

    Rgds
    Jana
