Hey guys, my D430 all of a sudden doesn't detect my portable Simpletech 250GB hard drive anymore. It used to detect it just fine but now whenever I plug it in, the safely remove devices symbol appears in the bottom corner but then everything else starts to work improperly and I can't shutdown or restart the system from the menu. Whenever I boot up into safe mode, it detect my hard drive just fine and I am able to access my files normally. What am I doing wrong? I tried disabling most of my start up programs and I disabled almost all of the services that were not originally on the system.

I have Windows XP Pro SP3 by the way.
