    Hi guys,

I'm trying to decide whether or not to hold out for a Dell M6700, and that depends a lot on when we think it might be released.

Can anyone tell me what the current educated guesses are for that?

Thanks, that's a big help. I'll sit tight unless things look bleak again.

Weird how long it's taking them to roll out this new model. I know they're cautious with the engineering of the Mobile Precisions, but these seem like they'd be a straight-forward processor/GPU upgrade of the M6600 design.

Actually... two weeks ago (as of today, I believe) we got a pretty strong hint from a rep that the machine was "3 weeks" away. So, an announcement might be coming next week.

The announcement will probably precede the actual ship date. When the M6600 was launched, the announcement was two weeks ahead of the ship date, though you could place an order almost right away.

The holdup may be related to sourcing the Kepler-based NVIDIA Quadro cards. The only real competing machine, the HP EliteBook 8770w, is available now but you can't get it with a Quadro yet.

Follow this thread to see the latest information as it becomes available (as well as a bunch of arguing over the screen aspect ratio :p).

Thanks. Actually, where I work it takes a million years to process a purchase order anyway. So what I really need is for the resellers I use to be able to generate a quote for a particular configuration of the M6700. I can guarantee it will take us longer to place the order than it takes Dell to start manufacturing the suckers.
