I bought this laptop as a mobile editing station and I've spent the past week installing all the things I need (with a whole lot of help from people here).

Now I've just installed TMPGEnc, which is a cuda enabled program. However, when I go to turn the feature on it's greyed out. I did some searching around and it turns out that the drivers dell give out for the m4400 aren't cuda compatible. How on earth they can get away with this I don't know, but I'm not here to complain. I'm sure there is a way to get this thing cuda enabled, but I don't know how. Surely there must be alternative drivers. I have had a look at laptop2go but I'm more confused.

Does anyone have cuda enabled on their M4400 with an FX770? If so, please can you point me in the right direction? Much appreciated.

Will the Quadro NVS Notebooks drivers work? I didn't realise they would, but I'll give it a try in the morning! Thanks.

I also wonder if there are any drivers available directly from Nvidia that will work with the 1700M. unclesomebody, could you please report if they worked? Thank you.

I tried those drivers from the nvidia site and they don't work. They simply don't install. I guess I'll have to look into the .inf hack from laptops2go.

I'm kind of surprised that no one else wants to get cuda working. Or do you all know of a solution that I'm in the dark about?

I, personally, don't have the need to use Cuda yet.

However, in my opinion Dell should absolutely release Cuda-enabled drivers in the near future.

That would be all well and good for those in the future but I could really do with getting them working in the next couple of days. Basically, it would allow me to encode video to a web based format much more quickly which would be great when I'm editing on the move.

I'll have to try the laptop2go process later tonight.
