Am using a Dell Latitude 6400 with Windows 7; Intel HD Audio--> a Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro-->Grado HF-1's.

I am having intermittent crackling noises (and the occasional pop too) and (only recently) 1-2 second pauses as well.

I have tested the sound through various interfaces (Itunes, Winamp, Youtube) and I experience the same problem throughout.

I have also updated all of my drivers.

    Any ideas?

Did you update the IDT driver?

It must have happened after you made some kind of change. Did you install anything? Including the Windows update?

Honestly-its been going on for so long now that I dont know what I have done since then.
That said, I did update the IDT driver yesterday and I do see a difference but I still have the occasional pop and crackle, which are incredibly annoying.
I dont know if I properly removed the previous audio drivers.

^That could be the issue. I "think" Driver Sweeper program supports removing audio drivers too. I "think"

    Try that.

My workstation had random "lagging" issues with the audio after i updated the windows update. Of course a few reboot helped solved that. Looks like a driver issue though.

Try reinstalling the audio drivers correctly. And just reinstall the touchpad driver too. Don't ask me why but that solved problem for my M4600 before.

Your last option would be to redo the OS. Especially if your OS was installed years ago.

    Thanks.

Driver sweeper has changed to some new program, that is now $17.
Are there any programs that can both remove bad drivers and replace them with new ones?

there must be an older version.. I used it even after it switched to a non free version. Try to find that. Of course be very careful with them shady sites offering programs.
