I am trying to find a decent 14 inch with a good i7, however most quad core i7 are way above $1000.

    Vostro 3450 ? 14-inch 2nd Gen Intel Core Business Laptop | Dell
Latitude E5420 ? Durable & Affordable Laptop for Business | Dell

These 2 are meeting all my requirements except the CPU, which is dual core i7, does anyone know if its possible to replace the CPU in these for a higher end quad core i7? Better yet.. has anyone done this?

I know Lenovo has one of these, but have had extremely terrible service with them. I've always had good experience with Dell so wanting to stick with them.

    My requirements are:
    14"
quad core i7 (or least option to upgrade to that in the future)
    under $1000, preferably around $850
I'd like to have 1600x900 but 1366x768 will do

My advice is go for the E6420 if you need a quad core CPU and a better product. It is cheaper to buy with a quad core CPU than upgrade it later.

Yeah E6420 was my other option but a little out of budget ($1195 with what I want), but since the specs are actually above what I was hoping for, I might just try to fit it in
