In my case, the backlit keyboard on an m6400. Is there a way to configure how long it stays on until it fades? Or even to just make it stay on 100% of the time when plugged in?

Of secondary importance would be a way to control the brightness, but mostly I want the keyboard to remain lit much longer than it does.

    Thanks...

Ah, shoot... I was hoping not to have to install the controlpoint software. This is a music machine and I want to keep it as lean and pristine as possible.

Anyone know how to get at whatever controlpoint adjusts, without having to install controlpoint? Is there maybe a more specific program or script or control panel I missed or registry edit or something?

    Thanks...

I have good news for you!
Dell Control Point is 2 software in one. Both are set to startup when Windows start.
The first one, is the on screen notification software, it's very light and starts in no time. It also make the keyboard shortcuts works, like Fn + D to close the screen, and every marked items on the keyboard.

The second application is the heavy one. This is where you control the things you ask for.

This is what I have done, I removed the second application from startup as it runs on demand when you do Fn+ F8 (or F7.. anyway it says DCP on the F key, I don't have the laptop with me at the moment.)

The first application is set to startup, but i don't like it, as it exists from full screen games/videos. So, I installed the early version of Dell Control Point as it doesn't do that.
