    Dear All,

I'm worrying because of the following issue on my new E5500:

The HDD LED is constantly blinking with one second frequency. I'm using WIN XP, this blinking can not be seen in BIOS, but I can see it with a Live XP, and it's also blinking when XP install starts, but there are not any processes.
Because of the mentioned reasons, this could not be because of indexing, or pagefile (additionally I have tried to turn them off, and blinking remained)

I've reported this issue to Dell, and the HDD was replaced, but I still can experience the blinking.
Please help me, if you have experienced an issue like this.

    Your help is much appreciated.

    Regards,
    Akos

I've got an E6400 with XP Pro SP3. Right now, my HDD LED is blinking with a frequency of about a second, and has been doing so since I read this post and looked at it about a minute ago. I dunno if it's always been doing that, but I've never had a problem with anything HDD related, so I really wouldn't worry about it.

Is your blinking absolutely constant, independently from the running processes? Could you monitor it sometimes? When there is no process running, and it remains on your machine, maybe I won't worry about it, just a bit strange, Ive never experienced it on other notebooks.
