I'm a thinkpad t60 user and considering e6400, but a bit concerned about e6400's touchpad, which is an Alps one. My experience with Alps touchpads was they were less accurate with finger movements, with lags and jumps from time to time. In short they are inferior to Synaptics touchpads.

Can any e6400 user advise on e6400's touchpad performance? Also is e6400 's trackpoint stick just the same as the Thinkpads', with all the same features and configurability? can you install Thinkapd 's ultranav drivers on e6400 ?

Oh, from product photos it seems the trackpoint's middle button is very close to the spacebar, does it pose a problem?

I've been very impressed by the touchpad on my E6400. It is precise and very smooth to use. The buttons have quite long travel but not much operating force and are more comfortable than short travel buttons that are harder to push.

I'm not a trackpoint user but the action seems to be smooth. The positioning seems OK for operation by forefinger with palm resting on palm rest. There are control panel options for acceleration, tap to click, scrolling and touch check.

    Thanks John.

Very helpful information and my last concern is now laid to rest.
