My M4400 used to wake up from sleep when i open the lid, now i have to press the power button. This happened after i installed the latest drivers and controlpoint software. any idea how to get it back to before?

What version do you have installed?
When I installed the latest ones found on the Dell M4400 page for VISTA, I found the same issue.

However, I am now using the ones they released under the Windows 7 heading and these seem to work fine with the lid options.

I had W7 installed (and still do) in both instances

And in both instances, I am talking about control point

I have the same issue with WinXP. Hibernation sometimes doesn't resume and I have to reset the computer by pressing the power for a few seconds. As far as I know it's a Windows issue and they still haven't fixed it. I've "played" quite a bit on this issue and found out that some Windows updates create this mess. Standby mode works though. Anyways, I'll be waiting for the Win7. :)

    Cheers,
    pantersen

I would def try the ones under the windows 7 downloads - see how it goes
I would check now for the versions but I just dont have time to get onto their site - maybe later on

think u got the wrong idea. i dont have to reset it. i just have to press the power button and it resumes. previously, openin the lid automatically made it resume.

Does it go into sleep when you close the lid? If not you might want to double check the power management settings? And make sure closing the lid puts the machine to sleep.
