Considering doing a clean install of XP Pro on my Windows partition in order to purge my E6400 of all the Dell and other party bloatware and start from scratch.

Would you guys recommend this? I have found in my experience (from building a desktop), that doing a clean install of an OS solves alot of the problems that are caused by manufacturer installed programs.

There's negligible bloatware in the Dell Latitude XP installation. Instead, there are some useful features such as pre-installed drivers for the different HDD access modes.

Just make sure you only install those parts of the Dell ControlPoint software that you need.

The download for Win 7 RC is over right? I'll be receiving a copy of Win 7 Pro from Dell when it is available.

Nevermind, I found the 90 day enterprise trial. Thanks for the heads up. I'm gonna try it.

The stock install on the Dell Latitudes is actually quite good. The only "extra" is the Control Point software, which I find very useful.

I'm doing a clean install with windows 7 enterprise and then a dual boot with ubuntu 9.04 clean again.

I don't like how I cannot install the latest drivers for GMA right now.
