    Hey all
Looking at purchasing the Precision 5510 and trying to determine the difference between the "Class 40" and "Class 50" SSD's. Search around hasnt pulled up much. Anyone here happen to know the differences or at least what model is associated with each in hopes I can compare benchmarks?

    Thanks!

The class 50 are the newer Toshiba NVMe drives. The class 40 are the older Samsungs. That could change as Samsung is releasing a "class 50" drive as Dell calls them....

I did come across that Reddit thread in my hunt, but it doesnt really include anything definitive on the models or differences.

The 5510 can either be equipped with a 1tb "class 40" drive or a 512gb "class 50". Frankly I'd prefer the larger capacity, but was hoping to find some benchmarks between the two models to see the performance difference between the two.

Sorry I couldn't help you there, but perhaps somebody with the machine(s) could share which drives they have and what class it's referred to as in the Dell specs.

    Class 40 drives are 1500 MBps read / 350 MBps write (1500/350)

    Class 50 drives are 2100 MBps read / 1200 MBps write (2100/1200)
