Hi, is there a way to check if I'm going to get an LG screen based on the system identifier or any other info in a Dell outlet E6400 laptop before I actually get it?

    Thanks

I doubt if that is possible. The data stored for the service tag only gives the type, not make.

    My display is

Just to warn you, I got a WXGA+ screen from the Outlet store made by AUO that had a "TrueLife" glossy screen rather than an anti-glare screen. Colors look nice but I see lots of reflections. I didn't know until I opened the box.

The info under the service tag should also give a part number. You can correlate the part numbers to the LCD maker using information in the registry. Check the key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\DISPLAY

Then in the outlet, you need to add the laptop to your cart and look at the "Detail View."

For example, I picked a random E6400 from the outlet and the LCD part number is Y961H. (Sorry, I have no idea which LCD model that corresponds to.)

I used to do this to ensure I got a "good" panel when buying a laptop from the outlet....

Interesting: Maybe the US Dells store more info under the service tag than the European versions. That truncated line I posted above is all that is stored about my display.

I've had my display switched out once, so I can offer a part number.
NM050 is the LED WXGA+ manufactured by Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO).

The service tag info was not accurate for my E6400...
before I recieved the machine I pulled it up and it listed a samsung LCD Panel, but when the machine arrived and I checked it,was actually an LG,so I was pleasently surprised.
