    Hey Guys,

    I recently replaced my 2GB 667MHz (5-5-5-18) memory with 4GB 800MHz memory....I knew my laptop will only run the 4GB at 667MHz but i was hopping to get tighter timings.

    The 4GB RAM is:
    OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Laptop Memory (Model #: OCZ2M8004GK)

    Timings: (according to CPU-Z 1.45)
    800--> 5-5-5-18
    667--> 4-5-5-15
    533--> 3-4-4-12

    Is there a way to change the memory timing to 4-5-5-15 instead of the current 5-5-5-15....I know the change is neglegable but i want to do it if it is possible ;)

    Specs:
    Dell Vostro 1500
    Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 2.0GHz
    4GB RAM
    8600M GT 256MB
    Intel 965PM chipset
    Latest BIOS installed (A06)
    WinXP Professional SP3

    Thanks guys.

    This sounds like a question I would ask.

    I would like help in this area also.

    Does ANYONE have any answers to this question?

    hey,
    i guess it would be too late for me to buy the G-Skill memory.

    but anyway, did your vostro automatically set the timings to 4-4-4-12 or did you have to configure something.

    i'm puzzeled why my vostro didn't configure the memory according to the the timing programed in the SPD.

    what BIOS revision are you using. mine is A06

    Thanks

    Laptop BIOS are not very smart...that is why you cannot manually reprogram it, and why it isn't exactly following the RAM's timings.

    Ya Greg,I guess you are right. I'm coming from a long Desktop background, and i guess i was assuming that laptops would give you the same freedom given by desktops!
