Hi all and happy new year :D ,

I need help with this issue, if anyone can help thx in advance.

I ordered as a replacememnt drive a 'Dell ND6650A cdrw/dvdrw' Manufactured by NEC off Ebay which according to Dell is compatible with my D600 Latitude - they still have the driver updates on support etc.
I receive the package this morning and it aint going to fit in a million years !! :(
So my question is, is there a fitting / adapter kit for this model to fit my D600

    What doesn't fit?

It is possible that you have been sent a bare drive and you need to transfer over the Dell-specific fittings. This thread has some useful guidance.

Thx for the quick reply and info, I see where your coming from.

regarding the fittings off my existing dvd drive, the one thing that is obvious is that the power fitting on the rear of the ND6650 drive is on the opposite side to the existing drive - so would I need a specific fitting shell for the new drive!!
    cheers forzacfc

The existing optical drive is probably in some sort of caddy. Find a small screwdriver and get to work. You will find a standard optical drive inside the enclosure with a plug which fits the connector on the ODD and (I guess) a ribbon cable connecting to the plug on the caddy. So, swap the fascia then reassemble the caddy with the new ODD inside.

If I'm not guessing correctly then can you attach a photo of what came out of the D600?
