    Hi everyone!

My first real issue with the m4400 to be honest ;) Getting a replacement screen on monday.
Thing is, i installed me e-mu 1616m audio interface and it disables the Intel wireless 5300 the moment i put it in the cardbus!! Pretty serious problem because i reeeelly need that card for audio production. One reasons i wanted to get the m4400 was that i had a cardbus where most new laptops don't. But i would like to use internet at the same time without having to unplug the card and having to reboot. Anyone else tried using a PCMCIA card?

I did get all the x64 vista driver from e-mu so that shouldn't be a prob. Will also ask the tech guy comin for the new screen about it.

    cheers

    BUMP.

Did this get resolved? I was using the 1616m on my recently stolen M4300, and if this could be a dealbreaker in replacing it with an M4400.

(and by recently stolen I mean that it was stolen from me, not by me)

    Hi Dodeca,

I only had this problem under Vista64 and although e-mu states their drivers should work with 64bit i expect the problem is there somewhere. Right now i'm running both XP and Vista64 and the 1616m runs perfectly under XP...i saw in the m4400 owners lounge you're going for XP so you won't have any issues.

btw....did you already know e-mu is releasing an pci-express card for the 1616m too use instead of the PCMCIA card? Not sure if there's much benefit in that but it could broaden your options for a new laptop if the PCMCIA has been a deciding factor for the M4400.
That said...there's not many better options out there imho.

Yeah, the DSP on the 1616m + the fact that you can use just the card when you're on the go is a huge plus.

I'd be interested to see if the Express connection reduces latency at all. For some reason, it was higher on the 1616m than I would've liked... which was odd considering that I could get it real low on my Indigo DJ.
