Can the E6420 XFR battery slice be used with standard models?

The 9-cell 84WHr battery slice fell into my hands at work as apparently surplus to requirements. According to the Dell website it is only listed as compatible with E6400 XFR and E6420 XFR but it looks to me like it should work with other models like the regular E6420 only the four corner screws will not be able to be done up.

Can anyone confirm that?
(I am thinking they do not list it as compatible because no-one in their right mind would buy it for that model when there is a dedicated battery slice for the standard models with higher capacity (97Whr), at the same or lesser price).
