I know my 1500 has a dedicated card for video. Let's say it fails sometime down the road without a warranty. Can I put any pci-e card in there or does it have to be an 8400m gs like it was before?
    Thanks.

Well it can - but only to Dells other offering for the 1500, the 8600mGT. You may be able to buy from Dell (at stupid money ofcourse) or Ebay or similar. An 8600mGT from the 1500 or 1520 will fit - the discrete 8600mGT from the 1700/1720 uses a different heatpipe.
