Hello everyone and thanks in advance. I'm about buying a DELL PRECISION M4400 and i just want to know if the processor can be changed. The actual processor is intel core2duo t9600 2.8 Ghz 2cpu, and after buying the laptop I want to change it with something more powerfull, i7 maybe. So, can it be changed ?
One more thing, what types processor does the motherboard supports ? I tried to search on the internet about that, but no results. Thanks.

The answer to that is relatively simple, all you can put in there is from the same generation of CPU, so you could potentiall put a Core 2 Quad in it, but there is no way a core i7 will work. It requires a different socket, different chipset, etc. If you want something with an i7, you're better off buying a M4600, M4700 or M4800.

T9600 is a pretty good CPU in it's generation, so there is not much gain, unless you know what you are after.

The best dual core X9100 is just ~200mhz more than your current CPU, so it all won't make sense unless you will overclock it. Quad Q9200 \ QX9300 would be nice if you would also overclock them wit intel XTU, otherwise the stock clocks are pretty low for quads. And really good thermal compound would become a must, because of heat.
