    Greetings,
I currently have a Dell D830 with at nice 16:10 WSXGA+ 1680x1050 screen.I've maxed out the cpu at a Core 2 Duo T9500 running @2.6ghz. 4gb of ram and a nice Vertex 3 SSD drive. The resolution is perfect what I do and I will be dragged kicking and screaming into a 16:9. Aside from starting a Kickstarter campaign to start a laptop company that actually listens to what users want instead of bowing down to buzzword bingo and up-selling Tech Tattoo's on boxes that say crap like "FULL HD RESOLUTION!!" I need some help in finding a new laptop that will work for me.

So I found that the M4400 offered at 1920x1200 16:10 but maxes out at a X9100 CPU. The M4500 on the other hand offers the ability to go to i7 CPU but are all 16:9... UGH!

So did the form factor change between the M4400 and M4500? Could I put a 1920x1200 screen and bezel from an M4400 on a M4500?

Don't even get me started on 16:9, if you've read this far you know I'm furiously against them. Don't even get me started on the off center keyboards and numeric keypads.

Thoughts? Ideas? if another laptop comes to mind i'm open to suggestions. Trying to stick with 16:10 if possible for as long as possible

The M4400 and M4500 use different chassis to accommodate different screen aspect ratios, and the screens/display assemblies are not compatible.

Well that sucks that you can't swap displays. But today (thanks to this thread) I learned about the M4400 and that it's basically the M to my E6500.

/runs off to read more about the M4400

Thanks for the reply. Anyone know what the largest CPU i can put into the M4400? Is the X9100 the fastest, or can i put something else in and undervolt the MB?

iirc there was a thread that said the quads can go in the m4400 as well... Even the qx models. I am about 95% sure, cause I remember reading the m4200 couldn't take the core 2 quads.

Pretty sure as well that there was some thread a long time ago indicating that the M4400 can take quads.

Just replying in case anyone searches google.

Yes, the M4400 can take a Core 2 Quad CPU. They even shipped with them from the factory. I have been reading a lot that people who upgrade from a dual to quad core seem to prefer the Q9200 CPU.

Again just throwing it out there to complete the thread.
