C400 latatude doesn't have CD or floppy drive

    And i am installing a new HDD. how can i get it installed now :S.

    does C400 allow boot from USB?

    It must do, it would be stupid for Dell to make a PC you can't reinstall an OS on (though I have seen dumber)

    There is an external floppy and CD drive available on the C400 (and also a docking station). Did you lose the CD drive? It plugs into the long narrow port on the left side of the system.

    No, the C400 doesn't boot from USB. Your best bet right now would be to install Windows onto the new hard drive using another computer. After you create the partitions and it finishes copying files, it will reboot. At that point, you should move the hard drive back into the C400. I tried that once on my dad's C400, but it didn't work (the BIOS in it was extremely old, so that might have been the reason). I ended up using an external CD drive module from a Latitude LS (it required trimming of the plastic tabs on the C400) to install Windows XP.
