I need to get a new business-class laptop. As a long-time ThinkPad user, I was trying to find T520 with FHD screen and decent specs, but it is really diffucult.

So I looked into Dell Latitudes. E6530 dropped out because it is not too much of a looker, plus the screen is supposedly worse than in E6520. So I thought seriously about E6520 because of supposedly very good keyboard (hopefully thinkpad-comparable) and fairly good screen.

Still, I don't really like the looks so I looked into E6540. They looked good and the only review I was able to find was quite positive. However, they are quite expensive and hard to find.

Does anyone know if there are going to be any Dell coupons available shortly that would apply to this model?

In the Netherlands a semi-permanent (until oct 1st) 30% discount applies. Still the price of an E6540 is rather steep. Based on the price of its predecessor, the E6530 I only expect this to change if more configuration options become available (i.e. cheaper cpu, only onboard graphics etc).

What aspect of the E65xx do you especially like/dislike. imho they all look quite similar (perhaps maybe the orange band around the keyboard on the E6520).

My brother has the E6530 an I own a E6520.
E6530 is nearly the same as E6520, at least the chassis, which includes the screen and the keyboard.
The difference is only the USB3.0, the Ivy Bridge intel CPUs, the better video card and the power-managment of the E6530. So, I would say, go for the E6530.

I finally got W500 instead. I couldn't be bothered with extra price that to me was unjustified, and with sacrificing some other ThinkPad benefits.

    Thank you.
