    Hey,

Brand new to the forums here, and I just ordered an e6400 through a place I used to work at. The web price for the systems are ridiculous, but after I talked to the dedicated rep for a bit, he managed to get the price down for me:

Anyhow, if you're in Canada and can seem to get a break on the prices, PM me as my quote is still good for 9 days, and you might even be able to get them to go a bit lower!

    Anyhow, here's the specs:

    Latitude E6400
    Intel P9500 6M 2.53GHz CPU
    2GB DDR2 Memory
    160GB 7200RPM HDD
    nVidia Quadro NVS 160M
    WXGA+ Display
    9-Cell Battery
    Intel Wireless 5300 Adapter
    8x +/- DVD
    Webcam / Mic
    Bluetooth
    Backlit Keyboard
    Vista Business
    3-Year On-Site NBD Warranty
    Nylon Carrying Case

    $1643 with free shipping...

If you need a copy of the quote, PM me.

    Cheers,

    L.

Hey great idea I think all canadians should put their quotes here as guidelines.

    Here's mine:

    INTERNAL FINGERPRINT READER, LAT E6400
    6-CELL PRIMARY BATTERY,LAT E/MPWS
    8X DVD+/-RW,LAT E, BLACK
    INT 0.3MP VGA WEBCAM,W/MIC,WXGA+,LAT E64
    INTEL GMA 4500MHD,EXP CRD,LAT E6400,BLK
    14.1 WIDE WXGA+ ANTIGLARE,LED,LAT E6400
INTERNAL BACKLIT FRN QUEBEC KYBD,LAT E
    90W,3-PIN,AC ADAPTER,LAT E $0.00

All in all, look similar; you've the better processor, the nvidia, and the battery, but I got the RAM, the bigger HDD and the fingerprint. Looks to me you had a better deal and my rep was almost crying lol.

Yep - It's a writer...Hopefully I don't get any of those problems with the drive like so many have reported...

    I forgot to mention the 9-cell... :)
You got the larger HDD as well....

Hey, what's that Travelite module that you have?? I didn't even get an option for that.

    Cheers,

    L.

It's just the little place holder that goes in place of the ODD, shedding a couple ounces. I hardly ever use the ODD anyway, so it will probably stay at home. Lol, seems it's not working anyway! I found the module in the list of US accessories. No mention of it on the canada configurators, though I saw it in the spec sheets and gooled it. I think they sell it 20$ and IMO it's probably worth 1$.

Looks to me you had a little better deal. I should have worked on the proc instead of the HDD. I did not need that big of a drive anyway :/. Oh well, did not really need the P9500 either and wanted to stay with the GMA for battery life.

You guys both got great discounts from the web price. Those configs would easily run over C$2,100 on the website, I believe! My ideal config. would be a mix and match of yours, including:

    - P9500 on the processor (double the cache but still at 25W)
    - the smaller HDD (160GB, 7200RPM)
    - fingerprint reader; I have used it on the IBM's and like its convenience)
    - 2GB of RAM (1 DIMM); I think that's plenty to start, and leave room for easy upgrade w/o paying Dell prices
    - 9 cell battery

On the screen, did you both get the LED backlit screen? I assume that the WXGA+ is the LED one, but wasn't 100% sure.

Also, for the graphics card, I haven't figured out which one to go with, though as I don't really game, I suspect the integrated one will suffice and still play multimedia files (movies, videos) fine?

Did your prices include tax? That's another 12% after all!

Thanks for sharing and I hope to get as good a deal as you guys when the time comes to order!

You are correct in assuming the WXGA+ screen is the backlit LED option.

I think both our prices include free shipping, but is before tax.

Yes, the WXGA+ is backlit, even if the Dell site says it's not.

If you want to be sure, get a quote emailed to you, it will say that it is LED.

    Here is what I got:
So I got this for $1299 + $5 Nova Scotia Envirionmental Tax (the last option ^) + 13% Tax ($169.52) for a total of $1473.52.

I already put another 1gb stick of DDR2-667 in it, and installed Vista Home Premium.

    Not a bad price IMO.
