Any reason not to do this at the moment?

Have there been any significant issues that are causing 6400 returns that I should be aware of and dissuade me from going the outlet route?

Any general tips for selecting outlet systems would also be appreciated. I see there are 300 returned systems with 4gb ram... lots to look through. Much less with 2gb or 3gb. Is that a normal distribution for outlet?

    Many thanks

There's no basic reason to not buy from Dell Outlet. Dell should have fixed any problems before reselling. Another source of computers in the Outlet is cancelled orders which haven't been shipped. It's quite likely that some businesses are reviewing their requirements (and some may not be there to receive their computers). 340 14.1" Latitudes in Outlet is a big pile. Perhaps a company such as Woolworths had got some on order.

Just work through the pile to find which best meets your needs.

I got my E6400 from the outlet and it is perfect. There is no way to tell that it isn't a 'new' system apart from the green 'Refurbished' sticker that was on the bottom but that has since been removed. I saved about $500 by going with a refurbished system. Plus, you don't have to wait for build time.

Thanks for the advice guys. Much appreciated.

The outlet site ones are certaintly offering a saving. Might just wait till new year sales just to see what price movements are on the main site.

Is the backlit keyboard standard on e6400 now? I remember for a while it wasn't showing on the UK site and you had to phone to request it. Any way to tell on the outlet site?

The backlit keyboard is not standard. You would have to assume that models in the Outlet don't have this feature unless specifically listed.
