    Hi,

My wifes Vostro 1500 managed to break today. I dont know what happened but she said when she shut it, it made a weird noise.

Anyway, the LCD works just fine but there is a physical problem. I dont know if I need a new Bezel, but the LCD is OK.

What replacement part do you think I need?

Sorry about the cell phone photo.

    Thanks,
    Rich

It looks like it's just the hinge that's broken. There might be some sort of cover as well, but it's hard to tell without any more views. The hinge is nonetheless a cheap and widely available part; you can use hinges from the Inspiron 1520 too.

Dell gives you instructions on how to replace this part:

    More specifically:

Hrmm, ok so to install the hinges does the Bezel need to come off too? If thats the case, I guess I will get both pieces, if the bezel doesnt need to come off, I will get the hinge & see how bad it looks.

    Thanks,
    Rich

From the instructions, it looks like you do need to remove the bezel to replace the hinges.

in order to replace the hinges on the laptop you'll need to open the bezel on the lcd panel

lift off the top panel above the keyboard, from there you ought to be able to remove the hinges from the main unit along with the cable connecting lcd to laptop

open the lcd bezel (screws will possibly be under some sort of rubber gubbins around the edge)

hinges will be accessible from there

    replace

    and away you go!

    good luck!

Ugg, so I got all the parts (hinge & front Bezel), the hinge is OK (mine) but the rear Bezel is broken.

I am having a hard time finding the rear bezel on ebay. Any ideas what the part number is?

    THanks,
    Rich
