My Vostro 1500 charger just broke after around 5 or 6 months worth of use. Should I call up Dell and ask for a replacement? The cable immediately behind the connector has torn to show the inside wiring, and now it has stopped charging altogether.

Does the warranty cover this sort of thing this far out?

Edit: I just did the online chat thing and I guess the power adapter is covered for a year. I should be able to get it replaced tomorrow, they are having database issues.

Just a note. If you're ever out of warranty and need a replacement adapter, I've picked up a couple of used genuine Dell power adapters on eBay for less than $15.

they'll replace it if you are still under warranty. It happened to me about a month after receiving mine.
