    Good afternoon all,

My Dell Vostro 1310 arrived on Monday 13th Oct. I didn't have a chance to boot it up till yesterday and well it doesn't boot.

C2D T5670, 3GB Ram, Windows XP Pro installed, 250GB HDD, Nvidia 8400GS go, WXGA with Truelife, Dell 360 Bluetooth module, Dell Wireless 1395 (802.11 b/g) AND Dell 9 Cell battery!

With the battery plugged in, it doesn't boot. Screen remains blank and caps lock, bluetooth, scroll lock LEDs come on and the num lock flashes.

Now without the battery plugged in, it gets to BIOS and I can enter it then it freezes.
I did once manage to get it into XP Pro and setup a user etc. Inserted the battery then it just froze immediately.

Even without the battery, it locks up and doesn't even post.

Anyone have a similar issue or know what's wrong?

    LecterUK

Sounds faulty. Couldn't pin-point what without a bit more info. But sounds like a problem with power management, maybe a faulty battery. But I personally would send it back as if you bought it new then Dell should fix it. It seems pretty much DOA.

Thanks guys. I couldn't talk to tech support as I had an appointment yesterday so left it with my brother. The idiot he is, he folded like chinese laundry and agreed to have an engineer set out on Tuesday when no one is at the business address to liase with the engineer and 7 days over the distance selling regulation period to send it back (here in the UK).

As it was DOA, I should be entitled to get a new one shouldn't I?

Also 2 of the CD inside the package where broken although the parcel itself was not damaged at all leading me to believe it was dropt sustaining damage OR was a re-pack.
