    Hi guys,

I just got my new Vostro 1710 in the mail today YAY :D What I'm trying to figure out is many people claim that its best to re-install windows after receiving a Dell machine because of all the pre-intalled software. Now there are some things I've read recently which have claimed that Vostros have very little pre-loaded in comparison to other Dells. Based on what I see loaded in the task bar there is a decent amount of icons but they all seem to serve an immediate purpose of one kind or another.

So can any Vostro users tell me whether they found it necessary to re-install windows?

When people say re-installing windows on a new machine do they also mean formatting the drive?

Huge thanks in advance as I'm really unsure of what my next move should be.

You don't have to reinstall the whole os. You can always just uninstall the software you don't want. No need to reinstall the whole os.
