I've set the same password for the BIOS, 1st hard drive and 2nd hard drive.

When I boot the computer up it only asks me for a password once.

Shouldn't I have to type in the password 3 times, even though I've used the same password?

I have to type in the password twice on my inspiron 11z - once for the computer, and again to access the hard drive...

    Thanks

130 people looked at this and not a single person has a bios password and a hard drive password on their laptop that can tell me how many times they are prompted for a password when the boot it up?

I have the system and hard drive passwords set to the same password, and it only prompts me once (fingerprint or password). If they are different, it will ask twice.

If you want to be prompted three times, you will have to change your password, but I can't imagine that someone would want to be prompted for that many passwords?

Thanks for the reply. I don't want to be prompted 3 times as such, but was just worried the hard drive passwords weren't working.

On my M6500 I changed the hard drive passwords to be different from each other, and also different to the main password, and it still only asks me for the main password, not either of the hard drive passwords...

What is your admin password? If it's also the same, that would be hard to say. Admin password takes precedence over system and HDD passwords.

The admin password is the same as the main password to turn the computer on. So maybe that overrides the need for the HDD passwords, but if they were removed and put in another computer that computer would then require the passwords?

    Thanks

If the hard drive password was set after the admin password, the admin password takes precedence. If you change/remove the admin password or put the hard drive in another system, you cannot use the admin password to bypass the hard drive password.
