I've had good results from installing the Intel matrix storage driver v8.5 direct from Intel (newer than the Dell version) but tonight I tried the even newer v8.6 version from Intel and have had two blue screens, so having to revert.

    8.5 here too

but what do you mean exactly with getting good "results"? I never notice it doing anything at all. As long as it doesn't give any problems it's ok right? Because then the Dell version worked just as good as far as i can see. Not aware of any problems with it but i have to admit i don't even know what it exactly does.

I'm running 8.6 without bluescreens, but I have this nasty crackling sound problem. Any clues how to resolve this? Should I rather use 8.5?

Again...what is the need for the applying the update if all's working fine in the first place. Did 8.2 cause any problems with anyone? Both 8.2 and 8.5 worked fine here...just don't see any benefit in the newer version. Do any of you know what the app does, becuase i don't really

I had that sound problem before using the Version provided by Dell, I thought an update might resolve the issue.

Ah ok....are you running XP? there's a whole thread about the sound issue in XP. Never had it because i run XP just for music production and i don't have the onboard soundchip installed there.

I'm running Vist32 and Ubunto 8.10. The problem doesn't exist with Linux. I've tried a lot of the things mentioned in the other Thread. Only thing I had not tried befor was to switch from IRRT mode to AHCI in the BIOS. This seems to have done the trick for now :)
