Anyone found any alternative fingerprint scanner software? Provided Wave software is pure junk! logging to windows using fingerpint is a hit/miss most times. Does not seem to practical for daily use.

I would like to know also. A few times Vista wouldn't let me log back in after suspend. It kept saying something was wrong with the logon policies.

Is there software that would let me log into my email or unlock a folder with the fingerprint reader?

I haven't even bothered to install the software because of what I've read about it. I was hoping it was improved by now.

the new firmware for Broadcom USH did reduce the "missing" rate for fingerprint scanning, but it is not totally eliminated, at least not for me.

I'd say it works 19 time out of 20 for me, I was careful to remember what angle and speed I took my sample dabs with, and try to use the same speed and angle when logging in. They seem to recommend a very shallow angle, but I have ended up with a quite steep angle to my finger.

One customer site has biometric entry to their server room, and that probably only works 1 out of 8 attempts for me.

I cannot even get the fingerprint to enroll.... Device is always closed? No idea whats wrong and have installed un-installed etc so many times its driving me mad. Applied all updates but alas nothing. Last time it took a re-install and that only lasted about a week before it started showing closed all the time again.

Anyone ANY ideas or ways to move forward other than un-install?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm on XP, I did indtall the USH firmware upgrade when it was released, and have DCP Security driver A07

The Wave versions I'm running is Dell Embassy Trust suite 3.2.2.3

I have TPM enabled and owned,

I did used to get the problem where the USB reader fairly obviously hadn't woken up when the machine came out of hibernate/suspend, but now it's OK

I don't have any of the Dell extra battery life settings enabled, somewhere there was an option whether to power down the security devices, I'm pretty sure I had that turned off, but can't even find the option now.
