I am in the markey for either an E6400 or an M4400. I like the power of the M4400 and the looks but I have heard some stuff about the lid not being as sturdy as it looks.

Is it made of metal as the lid of the E6500 is?

Which is a more durable laptop in yor opinion?

Well, the base and stuff in the laptop are all the same. Only the screen differs, and I'm willing to bet it is only a cosmetic difference too.

I am speaking of the top lid. I know the e6400 has a brushed metal look to it while the M4400 has a repeated "dip" pattern to it. I want to know how the lids feel as well as overall durability.

I have heard the M4400 has significant flex in the LCD region and is it metal?

the other thread mentioned that it was metal, and the flex did not create patterns on the display.

the slight flex enables better shock absorption.

also, i think in the owners thread someone opened it up and stated it definitely was magnesium alloy

You've heard pure BS, any flex it has is regular flex because of spacing between the lid and the insides, and it's very hard to create display distortions through trying to flex it. Mine is very cold to the touch, doesn't feel plastic at all.

If I had to choose Id go with the E6500 back, but the M4400 has the better GPU. Up to you...
