Actually, you will probably notice a little bit of speed difference, even if you use a SATA-600 device in a SATA-300 port. Besides, there's no harm in futureproofing. ;)

    Hi (cześć) Beukot,

I was looking for the efficient SSD for my E6420. I found quite nice Kingston’s HyperX SSD. My notebook supports SATA III drives, so I decided to purchase it. When SSD drive arrived I installed it in my notebook and prior to Windows 7 installation I have set HDD password in BIOS. I was sure the password I set on HDD drive because it was noted on Post-it and was double entered in BIOS to confirm password compliance. After power-on cycle which is necessary to complete SATA password procedure, I entered exactly the same password.
How I was surprised when I saw error message that the password is incorrect.

I tried again and again to enter the same password but without success. Then, I called to Dell support to generate master password which can unlock HDD password, erase all data and then makes HDD usable again.
I entered master password provided by Dell and the next surprise. Master password was also not accepted!

It means that Kingston’s HyperX SSD have a bug which makes SSD drive bricked after setting SATA password. I even did not have a chance to test this drive, because SATA password locked SSD forever. Now, I'm waiting for response from Kingston’s RMA.

The word of precaution is: do not set HDD (SATA) password on Kingston’s HyperX SSD because it will brick you drive!.

    Best regards,
    Adam
