    Hi guys

Was wondering if anyone with the coolslice could report on how effective its passive design is at cooling the notebook?

In particular i would be interested in someone with a precision m4400....
Before and after temps would be helpful, how warm the bas of the cooler is when its attached, or if it feels always cool..also if it manages to keep the fan on "medium" speed most of the time....

    thanks:)

Bump... any info on this? I've got a few extra dollars to spend, is this worth the $50 they're asking?

Use the forum search tool and you will find some discussion of the Coolslice in other threads such as this.

The only thing I would add to this is that now the season is heading into summer with higher ambient temps,it makes the GPU temp's go too high when playing a game 87-91 compared to,with the notebook elevated without the coolslice around 81-82......you don't feel the heat with the coolslice on at all,and it is definitely a good thing to use on your bed/couch/legs as you don't have to worry about blocking the vent.........but now its warmer,I take it off to play games.
100% cpu load doing encoding/rendering is fine with the coolslice.

If you don't game a huge amount,it's probably worth it,or you use your notebook on your lap or a bed etc.......but if its going to sit on a desk most of the time, its not going to do much for you except add thickness.

if you have any specific question's,just fire away.

So the Coolslice is effectively some insulation for using the computer as a laptop and actually makes the internal temperatures higher.

A normal cooler will be better for keeping the overall temperatures down.

Thanks to you both for the information.

So, since I'm going to use it on my lap, but I'm usually going to be playing games, it sounds like I shouldn't bother.

    Good to know. Thanks!

that sounds annoying. was planning on using it for gaming as well.

i suppose its still worth it, for when im surfing the net/chatting in bed.

i've been avoiding the other coolers because the notebook just balances on top of them, not very convenient for using in bed imo....where else the coolslice fits onto the docking attach points, and kind of becomes part of the notebook

It only makes the temps higher when gaming on the M4400,any other time it's the same or better eg.the fan comes on less often, but yes,an insulator is a good description....for the notebook and the user.

A normal cooler would be better, but isn't attached, and made to fit properly.

    Probably not.....and your welcome.:)

Its definitely still worth it for that, its very liberating to be able to just plonk the notebook anywhere and not worry about it suffocating.

I would be lucky if I spent 5% of total usage time playing games, the rest of the time it's worth having the coolslice for me.

I guess for what it was designed for [NOT a gamer's cooling pad] it works well.
