    hello
bought used d620 to myself on ebay, but 9-cell battery is worn out
started to search fresh one on ebay, but can't find genuine one, all looks same, to me
then I checked on dell site, and, OMG, look at those customer ratings

    http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...s&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=312-0386&mfgpid=167699

    same thing for 6-cell...
just can live with the fact that I'll need to replace my battery each year...

    any aftermarket batteries ???

are those mcvolt something to look at ?

This is pretty typical of Dell batteries. We have thousands of laptops/tablets and found that Dell batteries typically last 12 to 18 months before they stop holding a charge.

IBM/Lenovo batteries will usually run 2 to 3 years. (We have some lenovo thinkpads with original batteries that are still getting 1+ hour of charge after 4 years).

HP batteries also die around 12 to 18 months.

Batteries are a consumable device, and as such need regular replacement.

I just wish they would make the price more reasonable. I would have no problem paying $50 for a battery that lasts 12 to 18 months but $155 from dell is just a bit too high. All manufacturers charge that much for replacement batteries. So ebay or aftermarket is your best bet.
I've used ebay or 3rd party batteries in many laptops without any issues. Some of them actually came from the same production lines as the OEM batteries, just doesn't have the OEM logo on it.

Yeah, but the problem is that others are genuine pieces of junk that'll either hold significantly less of a charge, simply not work, or fail after a relatively short amount of time. And it's not easy to tell the difference between a quality non-OEM and a cheap rip-off. Personally, unless you can find an eBay seller listing genuine Dell batteries, I'd play it safe and buy from Dell.

actually, tried same search before, but, some of pisc are blurry, or the photo is taken in the way that you actually can't see is the battery genuine or not, I bought one of that kind, from hong kong, and got burned...so, guess the only way to get working is to order it from seller from usa or what ?!?!

I would stay away from the knockoff batteries. They could lead to trouble down the road.
Have you tried re-calibrating the batteries. I had a number of them that weren't working great, but once I re-calibrated them they have been much better.
