    bump
    still need to know if pa 10 or 12 really matters
    and if it needs to be the same intput output voltage, amps etc.

    You definitely need to have the same output voltage and the same, or higher, output current rating. You also need to have the same power plug.

    I don't know for sure, but I would expect the newer family to be backwards compatible provided the plug, voltage and current are OK. What would Dell sell you as a replacement?
