For the past couple weeks I've been pricing different configurations of the E6400 and trying to decide between it at the ThinkPad T400. For maybe the last week, though, Dell's configuration page no longer lists the AT&T mobile broadband option. It's not grayed out, it doesn't say "may delay order", it's just gone. The reps on the live chat don't seem to know why that option's gone missing, they didn't even realize it had. Does anyone here know what happened, or when it's coming back?

Mmmm, first I wanted to get this also. But the only data plan I have is with my iPhone 3G. I thought it would have been annoying to go under the laptop to stick in my SIM card everytime. I dont think these integrated options have SIM sockets easily accessible. It wasn't on the Eurocom I built before going E6400.

Anyhow go check on ebay for a Novatel X950D. It's Novatel latest 3G HSPDA/UMTS expresscard modem and it's nice and small. Even have GPS. Bought it totally UNLOCKED for 260$ + shipping. When I want ot surf, I remove my SIM card from my iphone and put it in the card and voila! Nice 2.5Mbps dl speed on Rogers in Canada. Best of all it has a memory chip that triggers driver installation from the modem. No CD required. You carry the modem, AND the drivers with you. Plain genius IMO.

It's **** slim. On the 12" tablet PC at work it doesn't feel it gets in the way, like older bulky antennas.

I don't have any data plan right now, but would probably do the GoPhone trick and wouldn't need to swap SIMs. Plus having it all integrated, and under $200 is nice. Hopefully they're just temporarily out of stock.
